Carole Fuchs
Advocacy at Altitude
French professional mountain athlete Carole Fuchs has found a unique way to combine her passion for climbing with environmental advocacy. As she scales 8000-metre peaks like Mt Everest in the Himalayas, Carole observes and documents the impacts of climate change on high-altitude environments.
Through her climbs and long-distance runs, she captures evidence of how rising temperatures are affecting the ‘cryosphere’, or frozen parts of our planet. Her work highlights the consequences for local communities and demonstrates the interconnectedness of mountains and oceans within our global ecosystem. In autumn 2024, Carole plans to run 1600 km across the Himalayas to raise awareness about cryosphere loss and amplify the voices of affected local communities. Her journey will be featured in an upcoming documentary.
Beyond her athletic pursuits, Carole is also the founder of Feel Run, a sustainable sportswear company that uses recycled materials and innovative practices to reduce its environmental impact. Through her diverse roles as an athlete, advocate, and entrepreneur, Carole is making significant strides in environmental awareness and action.
