Hanli Prinsloo
Moved by Megafauna
Hanli Prinsloo’s journey, from growing up on a horse farm in rural South Africa to becoming a global ocean advocate, is rooted in a love for nature and understanding the human need for wilderness.
A multiple freediving record holder, she channelled her passion for the underwater world into meaningful action for marine protection. She focuses on fostering ocean conservation through human experience, reconnecting people with nature through the innovative I AM WATER programs.
Hanli’s personal quest to freedive with marine megafauna has led to some profound encounters, and she brings these experiences to audiences through exhibitions, films, and articles. OCEAN TRAVEL offers sustainable interactions with marine life in pristine locations. Together with her partner Peter, she also launched AGULHAS, the first-ever sustainable freediving brand, to further their commitment to the responsible ocean economy.
Hanli’s work extends beyond conservation. Since retiring from competitive freediving she has become a sought after high-performance coach, working with professional athletes to global corporations. An acclaimed keynote speaker, Hanli is recognised as one of Conde Nast Traveller’s Top 50 Travellers of our Time.
