Helen Walne

She Tells Sea Tales

Cape Town journalist, author and underwater photographer Helen Walne has a gift for showcasing South African kelp forests and the plants and animals that thrive within this ecosystem.

She uses storytelling – often laced with dark humour – to spread appreciation for the amber forests and hopes to inspire people to protect and fight for them. She has published stories on freediving in National Geographic Travel and was a finalist in the recent Orms Ocean Photographic Competition. Check her out on Instagram.
